Manuela Heise
Psychotherapist & Counsellor
"The real difficulty is to overcome how you think about yourself." - Maya Angelou
Manuela holds a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Graduate Certificate in Counselling, and a Certificate in Gottman Method Couples Therapy Levels 1 and 2. She is also an accredited telephone crisis supporter with Lifeline.
Manuela offers counselling, psychotherapy and life coaching to young adults and adult individuals and couples, and she also conducts psychoeducation to groups and peer support groups.
Manuela’s career background is impressive, having worked as a lawyer, HR consultant and interpreter in the corporate world, not-for-profit, hospitals, mental health facilities, and prisons. In all these environments she witnessed first-hand the devastating effects mental health concerns can have on people. This inspired her to change career direction and find ways she could contribute more therapeutically to mental health solutions in her community. Since then, Manuela has worked with Lifeline, organisations helping people overcoming family and domestic violence, Smart Recovery supporting people with chronic pain and substance use, and in private practice with a wide range of client presentations.
In her work, Manuela assists clients to delve deeper into their thoughts, emotions and sensations to make sense of them and the setbacks they encountered in life, and to empower clients to move towards creating lasting positive change.
She is currently consulting on Tuesdays.
