Alan Moloney
Psychotherapist & Counsellor
"In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer." - Albert Camus.
Alan is a dedicated Counsellor and Psychotherapist with extensive experience across the community services sector, including specialist work in addiction treatment, homelessness, youth support, and community mental health. His clinical background also includes supporting individuals through the complexities of suicide bereavement and domestic and family violence. Alan has over 10 years as a counsellor and psychotherapist and works with both adults and young people. He holds a Master’s in Educational & Developmental Psychology and is in the final stages of completing his Registration as a Psychologist.
In his practice, Alan utilises a trauma-informed framework to help clients navigate and work through the profound impacts of past experiences. He is deeply committed to a person-centred, strengths-based approach, focusing on each individual’s inherent resources and capacity for growth rather than deficits or pathology.
Beyond crisis and community work, Alan is experienced in career coaching and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselling, offering support for professional development and workplace wellbeing. As a passionate advocate for equality and social justice, he strives to create a safe and inclusive space where every individual feels empowered to reclaim their narrative and pursue meaningful and authentic change.
Alan works with adults and young people experiencing a range of concerns, including anxiety and depressive disorders, addiction issues, trauma (including PTSD and childhood or developmental trauma), neurodivergence (ADHD and ASD), relationship difficulties, workplace or school issues such as bullying and harassment, career concerns, bereavement (particularly suicide loss), stress and burnout, and domestic and family violence. He supports both survivors and individuals seeking behavioural change.
