Maddy is registered psychologist who specialises in working with children, adolescents, adults and families. She has completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours in Psychology. Maddy has over 5 years clinical experience working with client groups across the lifespan in a variety of settings. She has a wide range of experience working across public, private, and community mental health sectors, and specialises in community child and adolescent mental health. Maddy was a co-creator of the Parenting Resilient Kids online parenting intervention to prevent depression and anxiety in young children, and is passionate about prevention and early intervention.
Maddy's approach is compassionate, collaborative, client-centered, and holistic. Her main therapeutic approaches include Compassion-focused therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour therapy (DBT), and positive psychology-based approaches. Maddy has also developed skills in clinical assessment, formulation, diagnosis, and risk assessment.
Maddy is able to build strong therapeutic relationships easily ith a range of client groups, but especially enjoys working with children, young people, and their families. She understands that young people thrive when they are embedded in supportive networks and therefore, she believes that empowering the family around the young person is a key aspect of the therapeutic process. Maddy helps families connect and communicate more effectively through challenging circumstances. Her approach with children is calm, kind, and playful, and she has developed creative ways of teaching children complex skills such as mindfulness of self and others.
