Families & Parenting

Picture
Our children drive us to be the best version of ourselves we can be.  It is in our instinct to make the next generations life better.  Parenting is one of the most rewarding and challenging relationships we can have. Gaining knowledge in the developmental stages and tasks of children can build confidence, subside anxieties, fears and support realistic expectations of parenting.  It takes a whole village to raise children because it is the shared collective knowledge that supports children’s healthy development.  Therapy can provide the forum for this collective knowledge to be explored and practised.

The Parenting Experience...

The experiences of parenting are rarely what we planned. We often find ourselves in unexpected places with no road map or shining light. Challenges we never imagined can instantly pop into our parenting arena. Parenting is one of life’s most amazing, rewarding and personal journeys that allows us to venture places never known before.
The birth of the first baby can test the strongest of relationships. It is full of ups and downs, times of euphoric joy and the exhilaration of creating new life, times of despair and complete overwhelm with the responsibility of it all. Being a parent is an extremely demanding job. Most come to it with no qualifications and often little support. Many parents struggle with the everyday demands of modern life which are often compounded by economic pressures, isolation and physical and exhaustion.

Parenting does not have an end destination. There is no time when you finally realise  all. Rather, it is a journey of maturation and growth... of learning alongside your children as together you charter unknown territory.

Parenting support empowers individuals and couples to be "who they want to experience themselves as" with their children.  To experience the intimacy and connection with their child, while learning and growing together, doing life together.
