EFT emotional freedom therapy

EFT is a form of counselling intervention that draws on various theories of alternative medicine, including acupuncture, neuro-linguistic programming, energy medicine, and Thought Field Therapy. Often referred to as "psychological acupressure", EFT works by releasing blockages within the energy system which are the source of emotional intensity and discomfort. These blockages in our energy system, in addition to challenging us emotionally, often lead to limiting beliefs and behaviours and an inability to live life harmoniously.

The theory behind EFT suggests that negative emotions and experiences can cause disturbances in the body's energy field. In essence, it is an emotional version of acupuncture wherein we stimulate certain meridian points by tapping on them with our fingertips.
How does EFT work?
EFT can often reduce the timeline of the therapeutic process significantly. At times, life changing shifts can occur within a single session.

Emotional stress can contribute to pain, disease, and physical ailments that EFT works to relieve. Negative emotional experiences disrupt the energy meridians that run through our body, and the physical changes we feel from those disruptions become attached to the memory of a particular distressing experience. This can affect the way we see the world.

EFT works to realign the energy meridians with respect to negative memories, disconnect the physical discomfort that we attach to it, and remove the resulting symptoms, allowing the healing process to take place on both a conscious and sub-conscious level.
